The 29th AGILE Conference on Geographic Information Science (Tartu, Estonia, 16 – 19 June 2026) brought together researchers and practitioners from across Europe to discuss the latest advances in geospatial technologies and their applications. Held under the theme “Making Geospatial Data Actionable”, the conference focused on transforming geospatial data into knowledge for informed decision-making, with a strong emphasis on the growing role of artificial intelligence and large language models in geospatial workflows.

As part of the event, GEOTEC (Universitat Jaume I), a partner of the Erasmus+ SpaceSuite project, actively promoted the project’s results, with particular attention to the GeoSpace Body of Knowledge (BoK) and the ecosystem of tools developed and expanded through SpaceSuite.

Representing GEOTEC, Sven Casteleyn, Carlos Granell and Joaquín Huerta showcased the GeoSpace Body of Knowledge at the project’s exhibition stand, where conference participants explored the latest SpaceSuite developments. These included the Skill Portfolio Tool, designed to help learners and professionals assess their competencies, and the Training Catalogue, which connects users with educational opportunities aligned with the skills required by the downstream space sector.

The conference also marked an important milestone for the long-term sustainability and adoption of the GeoSpace Body of Knowledge. During the main programme, Rob Lemmens (University of Twente and SpaceSuite partner) announced several initiatives that will further integrate the BoK within the AGILE community. These include a direct link to the BoK from the AGILE website, the annotation of AGILE conference papers using BoK concepts, and the future possibility for AGILE members to promote geospatial courses through the SpaceSuite Training Catalogue.

These developments demonstrate the growing recognition of the GeoSpace Body of Knowledge as a reference framework for geospatial and downstream space education. By strengthening its integration within the AGILE community, SpaceSuite continues to support collaboration between academia and industry while improving access to high-quality learning resources that address emerging skills needs across Europe’s space ecosystem.
